***NEW***How to build a wireless WDS repeater from a second home hub***NEW***

Many computer engineers may have come across wireless signal strength issues, and have had little or no answer to customer queries about how to improve signal strength in parts of the house using availible equipment, most suggest third party wireless repeaters. However it is possible to use a BT Home Hub as a wireless repeater, unfortunately this is not as simple a task as it looks. SEE HERE for step by step instructions...

or Quick Summary version:

 ·         Plug in both hubs, Ethernet connection to PC's. Master connected to phone line.

·         Change the repeater hubs SSID, change the wireless channel to the same as the master, and the WEP key as

             the same as the master.

·         Disable the firewall on the repeater hub.

·         Disable DHCP on the repeater hub. (UPDATE May08: Looks like this step might not be possible with Software version: 6.2.6.H onwards )

·         Add 192.168.1.221 and 255.255.255.0 as an IP address

·         Delete the other 3 IP addresses, deleting 192.168.1.254 last.

·         Reconnect to the repeater using 192.168.1.221, and then scan for repeaters. Ticking the master hub.

·         Connect to the master hub, and scan for repeaters, ticking the repeater hub.

·         Done!

WDS Bridge

Two home hubs can also be setup as a wireless bridge, Email us (see the "contact us" at top of this page) for details if you can't work it out from doing the WDS repeater setup.
